The East Kent Road Cruise

A cathedral, a vineyard and Domesday villages

The streets of Canterbury and Canterbury Cathedral

Your guide will meet you at Ashford Designer Outlet for morning refreshments. You will then cruise through the tranquil Kent countryside to the historic village of Wye, a royal manor before the Norman conquest. Wye Church has a peal of eight bells that are in regular use. From Wye you will travel through Boughton Lee and Forestry Commission land to Challock, with its 13th century parish church, built at the site of the old village, nearly 1 mile from the present village of Challock. Then travel onward to Chilham, with its square of half timbered 15th century houses, alongside the Jacobean building known as the Castle. Continuing through the Kent countryside you will take a short guided coach tour of Canterbury before pausing for lunch in one of the city’s many cafes and tea rooms. Leaving Canterbury, pass through Patrixbourne and Wingham.

In a small valley, you will find the wonderful village of Elham, with its 12th century church and village square. Here you will visit Elham Valley vineyards and have the opportunity to take afternoon refreshments. There is also the opportunity to sample the wines or visit the shop.

Following on from your refreshments in Elham, you will rejoin your coach and travel through the Kent villages of Lyminge with it’s half timbered building, Sellindge which was mentioned in the Domesday Book and Smeeth, before returning to Ashford Designer Outlet, where you will say farewell to your guide and have the opportunity to shop at your leisure.
