![]() The Oxford and Blenheim Tour 2 ![]() Enjoy one of the most popular days out in our portfolio. Your qualified guide will join you at the outskirts of Oxford and after a short refreshment break, take you on a coach journey around the whole of the centre of Oxford with full commentary. You will see Christ Church with its Tom Tower designed by Sir Christopher Wren, St Edmund's Hall, the only remaining medieval hall, New College with one of Oxford's finest chapels and a host of other world famous sites. You will also hear of the literary connections with Lewis Carroll, JRR Tolkien and many others. Locations from 'Inspector Morse' and other television and feature films will be readily spotted. In addition, your guide will explain the contribution to the British design legacy of William Morris as well as pointing out the wealth of stained glass adorning the city's magnificent buildings. Lunch will be taken in Oxford and you will have a wealth of venues from which to choose. There will also be time to take a walking tour of those areas in accessible to your coach. After lunch you will travel to Blenheim Palace and enjoy a full conducted tour of the home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. You have the choice of visiting the house with the famous Blenheim tapestries, paintings, porcelain, sculptures and fine furniture or spending your time in the 100 acres of lovely formal gardens originally designed by 'Capability' Brown. Refreshments are available here and at the end of the day your guide will leave you at the Oxford pick-up point.
