![]() The Sport of Kings Tour ![]() Meet your guide early on the outskirts of Newmarket then take a short refreshment break. After time at the 'Gallops' watching some of the world's greatest racehorses train you will either visit the National Stud or the Horse Racing Museum. Visiting the National Stud will enable a peek behind the scenes of this special national institution. You will see the stallion unit with its seven 'residents', the 'covering' barn, the foaling unit and nursery yards with mares and foals in the paddocks. Alternatively, the group can visit the National Horseracing Museum to learn about the history of flat racing and some of the characters involved with racing over many years. In the Practical Gallery you can wear racing silks, be weighed on jockeys' scales and learn to ride a winner on a horse simulator. You leave Newmarket for Cambridge with free time to take lunch and perhaps visit King's College Chapel, famous for its Choir and the Christmas Eve Carol Service. Your guide will give you an optional tour of the Chapel. There is an admission charge to the Chapel. Then, take a panoramic coach tour around Cambridge, including a visit to the American Military Cemetery. Whilst there is inevitable sadness, this is a beautiful place with the graves of 3,812 American service men and women who gave their lives in World War II. The Memorial Wall includes the names of Joseph P Kennedy Jnr. - elder brother of the late President John F Kennedy and of Alton G. Miller, better known as bandleader Glenn Miller. Your tour will end with a refreshment stop before you head home.
