On this tour you will meet your qualified guide in Melton Mowbray, famous for Pork Pies, Stilton Cheese and hunting. You will see the town and hear the origins of 'painting the town red' and other famous sayings. With luck you will have the opportunity to make your very own 'Melton Mowbray' pork pie. You will learn where King Edward VIII, as the Prince of Wales, met Mrs Wallace Simpson whilst hunting. You will also see Anne of Cleves' House, now a pub, which was part of her divorce settlement from Henry VIII.

From Melton Mowbray you will enter the picturesque Vale of Belvoir The classic English villages have mellow ironstone buildings and attractive parish churches, some dating from 11th Century. On leaving the Vale you will travel into Rutland to 'Barnsdale' the gardens made famous by the late Geoff Hamilton presenter of BBC2's 'Gardener's World'. Take lunch here and spend time browsing the gardens and nursery with its unusual and rare plants.

After lunch travel to Rutland Water with its fascinating wildfowl population, and now home to a family of Ospreys. After a brief tour and description of the reserve you will board the Rutland Belle to cruise the lake. You will see the sights with a full commentary on all the interesting aspects of this huge man-made lake whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee (included). After disembarking you will travel through Oakham, Rutland's county town and home to the famous public school, return to Melton Mowbray, say farewell to your guide and set off on the journey home.
