![]() Picturesque Northants ![]() Meet your guide in Market Harborough. After a stop for refreshment you will cruise through what has been described as England's most beautiful, undiscovered county. Northamptonshire surprises everyone who hasn't visited it before and in due course you will arrive at the Naseby battle site the for a full description of its importance in British history. This is where, in February 1645 the 'New Model Army' of Lord Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell defeated the forces of King Charles I and Prince Rupert. It was a deciding battle in the English Civil War. From Naseby you will take a leisurely tour through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside to Coton Manor where the gardens are described as 'inspirational and of exceptional charm with something for everyone'. You can take lunch in the Stables Tea Room shaded by a beautiful large black walnut tree. After lunch you will be guided on a tour of the very impressive gardens set in the grounds of this 17th Century manor house. The gardeners here are very approachable and will be pleased to answer your questions. Beyond the confines of the main garden there is a magical five acre Bluebell Wood (usually in flower in early May), an extensive Wildflower Meadow and an Apple Orchard containing 80 Old English varieties. After leaving the gardens you will enjoy more of the countryside before a visit to a local craft centre. Based in a converted farm there are attractions and shopping opportunities and a restaurant serving afternoon teas. Then you will set off back to Market Harborough where you will say farewell to your guide before setting off on the journey home.
